We want you to love our products as much as we do. Our products are made from solid, natural, materials and as such do need to be treated with a level of aftercare. Please read below for how to care for you Lombok furniture and if you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact our customer service team who will be happy to help.

Rusticity
Due to the ‘rustic’ effect of the wood we use and the handmade quality of the furniture, each piece is likely to differ slightly in measurements, appearance, colour and finish. Please be prepared to see small plugs and blocks in your furniture. The salvaged planks often contain holes, where one piece of wood was joined to another. These holes are plugged with leftover pieces of wood before they are processed, and the plugs are a distinctive feature of the finished items.

Dimensions may differ by up to +/- 3cm from the sizes specified: to avoid disappointment on delivery day, please bear this in mind when measuring your space and ordering your furniture.

Indonesian Furniture
The wood used for much of our teak furniture is reclaimed. This old teak has been sourced through recognised Indonesian timber brokers who buy timber recovered from old benches, floorboards, panels and beams. Due to rapid expansion in Indonesia there has been substantial building work across the country and the old-style wooden buildings are being replaced with more sanitary and modern brick and tile houses. As a result, there is a supply of this seasoned teak timber which not only has a beautiful weathered appearance, but is more durable in a UK climate and is much less likely to shrink, move or crack due to the low level of moisture.

Each old ‘dinglik’ plank is stamped by the police as proof of its source prior to being brought to the factory. Wherever possible, this old teak is used, however some of our pieces and some of the drawer linings and internal construction parts of our reclaimed teak furniture use newer kiln-dried teak which is harvested from government managed plantations and is certified by the Forestry Department as ‘approved cut timber’. Our manufacturers have also endeavoured to use traditional methods of production in terms of dowels and dovetail joints (although sometimes wood glue is used for added strength).

Many pieces of our Indonesian Teak has a distinctive rich brown stain. In order to bring it back to life we would recommend the products available through Mylands, their wax sticks are particularly good for filling in scratched surfaces and they have a variety of colours to choose from.

LOMBOK COLLECTIONS AND MATERIALS

Artisan
Materials: All the items in our Artisan collection are handcrafted from nickel-plated iron and mango wood.
Care: Mango wood is a sustainable, environmentally friendly, wood as the trees only produce fruit for 20 years - they are then cut down and new trees planted. The unique parquetries in our Artisan products are inlaid by hand, meaning no two items are the same. To keep your items in perfect condition we recommend you use natural clear beeswax on the wood every three-six months to ensure longevity. To maintain the finish on the metal please rub with a soft cloth. Do not place hot or wet items directly on to the wood. Clean all spills immediately.

Baxter
Materials: All the items in our Baxter collection are handcrafted from solid reclaimed teak and strong antiqued metal.
Care: As the wood is reclaimed there will be natural variances between the furniture, making each piece unique. We recommend using natural or light beeswax on the wood and gently polish the steel with a soft cloth to ensure your furniture keeps in perfect condition. Do not place wet or hot items directly onto the wood. Clean all spills immediately.

Canton
Materials: All the items in our Canton collection are made from solid ash and yellow poplar wood using traditional Chinese crafting techniques. The items are then lacquered to create a lustrous finish which is then hand distressed to create a dramatic Eastern inspired design.
Care: We recommend using natural beeswax every three to six months on our Canton products to ensure longevity of the wood. Any scratches to the lacquer can be minimised with a dark wood stain. Do not place wet or hot items directly onto the wood. Clean all spills immediately.

Kenta
Materials: Handmade from solid European oak by highly skilled artisans and smoked for a unique finish. Due to the bespoke nature of this product no two items will ever be the same, making it completely unique.
Care: Please wipe all spillages with a damp clean cloth immediately; do not let liquids soak into the wood. Do not apply heat directly to surfaces. Do not use wax on these products, it will alter the finish of the wood. For extra protection a Skylt finish can be bought at the time of purchase and will be applied in the factory. There will be natural colourations and marks in the wood, Lombok will not be held responsible for such variances.

Keraton Carved
Materials: The items in our Keraton Carved collection are handcrafted in Indonesia from solid teak with a rich brown stain finish; solid wood inners have been used for durability and longevity. The natural, rustic, characteristics of our Keraton Carved products mean no two items are the same, making each one unique.  The rich brown finish has been expertly applied layer-on-layer by hand to achieve the perfect balance, ensuring the beautiful natural variances in the teak grain are still visible.
Care: To keep your furniture in perfect condition we recommend that you apply a thin layer of natural beeswax to protect the surface of the wood and ensure longevity every three to six months. Do not place wet or hot items directly onto the wood. Clean all spills immediately.

Leather
Materials: Our leather products are made from 100% premium buffalo or cow hide.
Care: For leather items, an occasional wipe with a slightly dampened cloth will ensure they remain in pristine condition. Our dining chairs are pre-conditioned and therefore do not require further conditioning. We recommend that leather furniture is kept away from any strong heat source in order to prevent it from drying out.

Rugs
Materials: Our rugs have been handwoven in India from a 60% wool and 40% cotton blend.
Care: Remove all spills immediately, blot with a clean, dry cloth pressing firmly to absorb any liquid. Hand brush or lightly vacuum regularly to prevent dust from settling. Exposure to direct sunlight may result in colour fading, please turn rug to prevent this. Occasional professional cleaning is recommended. Keep away from fire.

Seat Cushions
Materials: Our removable cushion pads have been made in the UK from a linen mix.
Care: Our dining chair, stool and bench cushion pads can be removed and laundered or dry cleaned. Please follow the washing instructions on the label for further information.  If laundering, use the lowest possible temperature (no higher than 30 degrees Celcius) using a gentle detergent to avoid shrinkage.

Seba
Materials: The items in our Seba collection are handcrafted in Indonesia from solid Indonesian teak with solid wood inners to ensure longevity and stability, some items also feature glass panels and antiqued brass hardware. The rich brown finish has been expertly applied layer-on-layer by hand to achieve the perfect balance, ensuring the beautiful natural variances in the teak grain are still visible.
Care:  To keep your items in perfect condition we recommend you use natural clear beeswax on the wood every three-six months to ensure longevity.  Do not place hot or wet items directly on to the wood and keep natural products out of direct heat.

Stone
Materials: All the items in our stone collection have been hand cast in Vietnam from a sandstone composite with a powder coated metal frame.
Care: To keep the products in perfect condition we recommend you to wipe the surface with a dry cloth and treat the table top with a specialised product every two months, e.g. HG Natural Stone - top protector. Never use any acidic household cleaners on the table top surface as they will etch the sealant and may cause permanent stains.

Sumatra
Materials: The items in our Sumatra collection are handcrafted in Indonesia from solid reclaimed teak floorboards, repurposed from traditional Javanese homes. Inners are made from solid hardwood to ensure durability and longevity- some items also feature glass panels and antiqued brass hardware.
Care: Due to natural variances of the reclaimed teak no two items will be the same. In order to maintain and emphasise the natural characteristics of the Sumatra collection we recommend using clear beeswax on the wood every three to six months. Do not place hot or wet items directly on to the wood and keep natural products out of direct heat.

Water hyacinth and Rattan
Materials: Our rattan items are all weaved by hand in a small village in Myanmar, Burma and our water hyacinth products handcrafted in Vietnam by skilled artisans, with a white or black wash finish.
Care: Regular, gentle cleaning of cane, wicker and rattan furniture is essential for its lasting durability. Add a small amount of detergent in to a bowl of warm water, then dip a soft-bristled brush in to the solution and carefully work over the piece. The piece should then be dried off with a soft cotton cloth. If a piece is particularly dirty or dusty, vacuum over it first then clean with a brush.
